January 17, 2017 – This past weekend, Anthony Luyken ran a NCCP Learn to Train Clinic for coaches, as well as two youth clinics in the Nisga'a community of New Aiyanish located outside of Terrace.
Coaches attended a NCCP L2T course, taking back information to support the good work already been done in their respective community. During the evenings two mini camps were ran, a youth camp - ages 2-7, and a senior camp - ages 8-10, which included some of the younger kids from the night before.
"The work been done there by their two young community leaders, Phillip Clayton Sr and Chester Munroe is outstanding. They have created a Mecca of energy at the community centre, with basketball being the spotlight sport. It was cool to see kids choosing to hang out at the gym and "hoop" instead of wandering the community." stated Luyken
All in all, "a great weekend, supporting coaches, and kids in the Nisga'a Nation community" said a thankful Anthony Luyken.
